Succession Planning: Employee Ownership as an Option

Employee ownership is one of the best economic development ideas that most people have never heard of. It creates intergenerational wealth for working people, makes companies more competitive, and keeps businesses rooted in their communities. Numerous studies have shown that employee ownership creates benefits for employees, business owners, and the communities in which the businesses are located such as: Higher income from wages and longer job tenure for workers, a built-in succession plan for current owners leaving their legacy intact, and a means for keeping jobs in place, strengthening communities.
